Olkaria Geothermal Spa Naivasha is set at the heart of Hells Gate National Park on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. It is a product of the KenGen Kenya and is 120 km from Nairobi.

This is where the Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited (KenGen) operates geothermal power projects in its four power plants.

Revellers all around the country come to Olkaria Geothermal Spa Naivasha to enjoy the natural hot waters and enjoy the stunning views of the formations of the Great Rift Valley.

It offers recreational and therapeutic swimming in the blue pools/ lagoons.

It is unique and one of its kind. It is a child of the miracles of the Great Rift Valley.

Blue Lagoons/Ponds

There are three pond or lagoons that receives geothermal water connected to them through pipes from different wells the Olkaria Geothermal Field.

SPA Lagoons

The First Lagoon/Lagoon

The first pond is not usable for swimming as it receives geothermal water that is 90°C hot.

The Second Lagoon/Pool

The second pool receives geothermal water from the first pond/lagoon when it is full and overflow. It is not usable too as the waters here are now 60°C.

The Third Lagoon/Pool

Our interest is the third pool/lagoon.

The third pool and the largest lagoon receive geothermal water that overflows from the second lagoon. The temperature of the geothermal water is now around 30-40°C and fit for use. This geothermal water is therapeutic and provides relaxation that is unprecedented.

Why therapeutic? The geothermal water provides an opportunity to relax and revitalize you mind, body and soul. The geothermal water has is also rich in minerals such as the sulphur and the silica known to cure diseases such as psoriasis, fibromyalgia, Arthritis and more.

This third lagoon can hold revellers up to 400. It is quite big and pulls a crowd from all corners of the world. Some people who live around it cannot live without visiting here at least once a day through the monthly subscriptions.

It also has an extension and an island in the middle. The island in the middle is for aesthetic and lighting purposes at night. There is a lamppost.

The extension if this third lagoon is the children’s swimming pool below 8 years of age.

This pond is equipped with sun loungers, tables and chairs.

The pool closes at 18:00 hrs.
