Huawei Announces MatePad 10.8 & Enjoy Tablet 2

Huawei has revealed Huawei MatePad 10.8 and Enjoy Tablet 2 alongside TalkBand B6, and Children’s Watch 4X today.

 Huawei MatePad 10.8

Huawei MatePad 10.8 comes with a 10.8” IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels (2K resolution) translating to 280 ppi density. Also, it delivers an aspect ratio of 16:10.

The display supports the M-Pencil stylus for writing with an alternative to attach a keyboard add-on in case you prefer typing.

The tablet is equipped with support for Wi-Fi 6 and NFC connectivity.

It weighs around 500g with a thickness of 7.2mm and comes with Silver Gray or Champagne Gold back.

Kirin 990 chipset powers Huawei MatePad 10.8 paired with 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM (internal storage). The internal storage can be upgraded to 128GB or expanded through a microSD card in the slot.

Huawei mate Pad 10.8 comes with quad speakers on the sides turned by Harman Kardon for 3D stereo output, coupled with Histen 6.1 audio technology from Huawei. If you choose to use your current headsets, you can connect through the 3.5mm jack.

It has a 13MP rear camera with an autofocus lens and f/1.8 aperture. The front camera for Huawei MatePad 10.8 is 8MP.

MatePad 10.8 will be available in mid-August in a Wi-Fi-only flavor with a price of around $340 (around KES 35,000).

Huawei Enjoy Tablet 2

Huawei Enjoy Tablet 2 comes in a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels translating to 224 ppi density.

It comes in 2 models, 4/64GB and 4/128GB models and it is pretty clear it is more affordable than Huawei MatePad 10.8 given its specs.

Enjoy Tablet 2 is powered by a mid-range chipset, Kirin 710A.

The battery capacity for this device is 5100mAh charged at 10W.

Other features include microSD slot, 2 speakers, and 3.5mm jack, optical heart rate sensor, and sleep tracking.

The 4/64GB model price is around $230 (KES 24,150) while the 4/128GB model is around $260 (KES 27,300) and will be released in mid-August.

Huawei TalkBand B6

Huawei TalkBand B6 has a 1.53-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 188 x 460 pixels translating to 326 ppi density.

This wrist-worn band –which can transform into a Bluetooth earpiece –displays notifications from an Android (4.4+) or iOS (9.0+) phone. It is IP57 rated meaning it is water-resistant.

Huawei TalkBand B6 has 120mAh battery and it charges over USB-C with a talk time of up to 8 hours as BT headset and up to 3 days of power under the smart band mode.

It comes in 2 versions, the silicone band one and the metal strap one both bearing different prices. The Silicone band Huawei TalkBand B6 is around $ 140 (14,700) and the metal strap Huawei TalkBand B6 is around $210 (KES 22,050)

Huawei Children’s Watch 4X

Huawei Children’s Watch 4X is a smartwatch for kids. It is 5ATM rated meaning it is water-resistant up to 50 meters.

It weighs 67.7g with a 1.41-inch AMOLED display with 320 x 360 pixels.

Watch 4X comes with an 800mAh capacity battery which can last up to 2 days in average use and up to 5 days under power-saving mode.

Next to the display on the upper part is a 5MP selfie camera and on the side, there is an 8MP camera for general photos.

Huawei Children’s Watch 4X comes with NFC and also acts as a phone and will be released in mid-August too at a price of around $200 (KES21,000)
